Opening on State Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) is looking for new members for its State Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Applications are due by October 23.

Parents eligible for consideration must have a child currently enrolled in preschool, elementary or secondary grades, or college.

ODE established the Parent Advisory Council in 2002 to provide feedback on new ODE policies, products and materials for families. Council members also share information on state-level education initiatives with families, communities and organizations in their areas.

Representatives are needed from all regions of the state, and members will be selected to represent the diversity of students in each region. The Parent Advisory Council is a nonpartisan organization and does not represent special interest groups.

Parents may learn more about the role of PAC members and download and submit a PAC application on ODE’s website, education.ohio.gov, keyword search: parent advisory council or click on link below. Applicants will receive a letter indicating the status of their application by Jan. 1, 2011.
